Employment Registration and Renewal The section 51 of the SLBFE’s act no. 21 of 1985 requires all Sri Lankans leaving for employment outside Sri Lanka to get registered with SLBFE prior to their departure. This registration can be obtained from any Training Centre of SLBFE or Head Office at Battaramulla. The above registration is valid only for a period of two years with the same employer. If any employee in Kuwait wishes to extend his/her employment beyond the original period of contract under the same sponsor should be renewed prior to expiration of the existing registration. If any worker fails to renew the registration within the six month period from the date of expire of previous registration, he/she is needed to obtained fresh registration. In case when a worker has changed their employer he/she is also needed to get new registration Documents required For new registration:

  Registration of Recruitment Agencies/companies Companies/Agencies in Kuwait who wish to hire Sri Lankan manpower under the categories of professional, skilled and semi- skilled it is compulsory to register with the embassy prior to place job orders to Sri Lanka counterparts. This registration is valid for a period of one year from the date of registration and the recruitment parties registered with the Mission must renew their validity of recruiting Sri Lankan manpower, at the end of the year of registration. You are kindly requested to submit job orders in compliance with the attached specimen in order to avoid rejection by the Embassy. MOST IMPORTANT
  1. Please ensure that details appearing in the letterhead (Agency name, address, tel., fax nos. etc.) are current and accurate and quoted as it is at all times in all your correspondence with the Embassy.

  Complaints Migrant workers who have got registered with SLBFE and working in Kuwait can directly visit the Labour section of this Mission and lodge their complaints regarding the employment disputes. Labour Section mediates to find settlement for those disputes and grievances.   Complaints can be made under the following situations.
  • Violation or Breach of terms & conditions of employment contract.
  • Non receipt / under payment of wages
  • Physical/ Sexual harassment
  • Lack of food /accommodation problems
  • Medical issues/ sickness
  • Runaway Domestic workers
  • Runaway Non domestic workers from work place
  • Home - front issues
  • Any other issues regarding employment

  Attestation of Individual Job Contracts   In the event that a Sri Lankan worker is hired for employment in Kuwait through a direct path (without an agency) , the employment contract signed by the employer and employee should be authenticated by the labor section of the embassy. *** The employer will be entitled to receive the security deposit back in case of non-arrival of female domestic worker to Kuwait.
